Learn about your mountain lion and bobcat neighbors and the west coast habitats they roam. Hear how scientists are using cutting-edge research to help conserve wild cat populations in areas increasingly affected by humans.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Olympic Cougar Project is the first predator study in the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe’s historic use area and a large-scale collaboration between Panthera researchers and Washington tribes. Join Cameron Macias, PhD Student at the University of Idaho and Lower Elwha Klallam tribal member, as she talks about this significant research in mountain lion and bobcat conservation.

  • Mountain lions (or pumas), are in the news a lot these days—photographed on home security cameras, or caught out of their element in downtown urban areas. But how do they feel about us? And how do we affect their ecology and populations? Dr. Chris Wilmers will talk about his work with UC Santa Cruz to help answer these questions about our local puma population.
