After a mouth-watering makeover this fall, the Academy Café is now open daily!

The Academy Café honors the agricultural bounty of California and highlights local, sustainable, and seasonal ingredients. A brand-new menu features fresh takes on classic crowd-pleasers like pizza and burgers, bountiful plant-based options, and more grab-and-go items.

The Terrace Restaurant is located in the beautiful West Garden and features dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Relax with a glass of wine, or try our selection of regional beers. While The Terrace is mainly open on weekends, grab-and-go beverages are available during the week. 

Chef Chris Curtis, a native of Montego Bay, Jamaica, began his culinary journey as a line cook at the Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay. After four years of honing his skills, Chef Curtis moved to New York City to reunite with his family, where he embarked on his formal culinary education. Since then he has advanced his cooking techniques and had a flourishing career at prestigious restaurants in New York, Miami, and Washington, D.C.

He has managed culinary operations at iconic cultural and attraction venues, including The New York Botanical Garden, Carnegie Hall, Hillwood Estates, and now us! Stop by the Café or the Terrace to say hello to Chef Chris and welcome him to the Bay Area.
