If you visited Tusher African Hall this year, you probably noticed that one diorama is definitely not like the others.
Leo na Kesho (today and tomorrow), an installation by Tanzanian-American artist and Osher Fellow Walter Kitundu, appears as an urban storefront in bustling Dar es Salaam, standing in stark contrast to the unpeopled Serengeti scenes that surround it.
In the video, Kitundu shares his personal and political inspiration for the exhibit—and reminds viewers that biodiversity is just one lens through which to view the vast, modern, multidimensional continent of Africa.
